WhatsApp update (Image: WhatsApp)
Meta-owned instant messaging platform WhatsApp has undergone a design overhaul. The updated version has started rolling out on Android and iOS. Meta mentioned that the fresh design enhances the platform, making it more user-friendly and simpler. The update includes new icons, illustrations, a revised color scheme, improved navigation, and more. Find out more details below:
WhatsApp: New color scheme
Instead of the previous blue and green combination, the revamped WhatsApp now features a consistent green palette for a cohesive experience. The new color scheme aligns with the WhatsApp green logo and ensures uniform color coordination throughout the app.
Additionally, Meta explained that the redesigned app incorporates more neutral colors, with a thoughtful selection of where the green color is used. Furthermore, WhatsApp introduces a darker “Dark Mode” with enhanced contrast and deeper tones to reduce eye strain in dimly lit environments.
New icons and illustrations
WhatsApp has updated the app icons to have a more rounded look and refreshed the illustrations to complement the new icons. The platform also introduces new animations to give the app a more engaging appearance. The default chat background now features new doodles as part of the redesign.
Navigation
WhatsApp now includes a new bottom navigation bar in the Android version. This layout aims to provide quicker navigation as the tabs are conveniently located for easy access with one hand.
The iOS app introduces a new attachment layout for sharing photos and videos. Instead of a full-screen menu, it now features an expandable tray, allowing users to access features such as media, polls, documents, and more easily.
WhatsApp has introduced chat filters for better chat management. Users can now filter their chats into three categories – all, unread, and groups. The navigation bar has been relocated to the bottom of the screen, with filters now conveniently located at the top of the inbox on both iOS and Android apps.
